Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)

Postdoctoral Associate - Farese & Walther Lab

Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)

Boston, United States

Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is an independent, ever-evolving philanthropy that supports basic biomedical scientists and educators with the potential for transformative impact. We make long-term investments in people, not just projects, because we believe in the power of individuals to make breakthroughs over time. HHMI scientists have radically advanced the understanding of cells, the brain, the immune system, the development of organs, and how to treat many diseases.  Founded in 1953 by aviator and industrialist Howard R. Hughes, HHMI is headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and employs more than 2,500 people across the U.S.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work within the shared labs of HHMI Investigator Dr. Tobias Walther and his collaborator Dr. Robert Farese.  The Farese & Walther Laboratory studies the mechanisms of lipid metabolism, storage and homeostasis. The lab uncovers the biochemical, physical and cell biological principles that cells use to store lipids and to determine how lipid balance and storage are maintained. The lab also studies how processes of lipid storage affect physiology and disease.

For our joint laboratory, we seek an outstanding individual with Ph.D. training to study the mechanistic basis of lipid synthesis, storage and lipid droplet formation.

More information can be found on the lab’s website: https://faresewaltherlab.hms.harvard.edu/research
