Post-Doctoral Research Associate – Laboratory of Dingcheng Gao, PhD – Weill Cornell Medicine
We are seeking an independent and self-motivated researcher for a Postdoctoral position in the Neuberger Berman Lung Cancer Research Center in the Division of Thoracic Surgery (Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery) at Weill Cornell Medical College (New York, NY).
In the laboratory of Dr. Dingcheng Gao, the successful candidate will join a collaborative team that studies the mechanism of tumor metastasis and chemoresistance. In particular we are exploring the involvement of EMT (epithelial to mesenchymal transition) mechanism in tumor progression (Fischer et al. Nature 2015), and seeking novel therapeutic targets of the metastatic breast cancer.
DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
The post-doc will be responsible for overseeing in vitro cell based assays and in vivo murine tumor models. Cell culture, virus packaging, immune fluorescent staining, flow cytometry will be the routine techniques. Mouse models of breast cancer including multiple transgenic mice and xenograft tumor models will be major experimental platform. The post –doc will also conduct data analysis using biostatistics software and coordinate with bioinformatics collaborators. The postdoc will be encouraged to present the project in internal and external professional meetings, and coordinate with collaborating investigators.
Applicant must have a doctoral degree with background and technical skills in molecular and cancer biology. The candidate is expected to have a demonstrated record of innovative scientific accomplishments as evidenced by first-author papers published or accepted in major journals. Knowledge of biostatistics is required. The candidate needs to be highly organized, maintain accurate experimental records. Qualified candidates must also have strong communication skills, have a strong passion and commitment to science, and work well within a diverse group of basic science researchers, thoracic surgeons, clinical coordinators, post-docs, and graduate students.
