2 Post-Doctoral Fellowship Positions in Heart Regeneration
Two postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Hesham Sadek MD, PhD, in the Departments of Internal Medicine/Cardiology, Molecular Biology and Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study mechanisms of mammalian cardiomyocyte cell cycle regulation and develop new therapeutics to enhance the endogenous regenerative capacity of the human heart.
Our laboratory https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/labs/sadek/ has several exciting projects related to molecular mechanisms that regulate endogenous heart regeneration in mammals, as well as mechanisms of cardiomyopathy. We strive to build a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and must have a track record of publications in fields relevant to the positions. Candidates for the two positions will be considered separately as different backgrounds are required. For one position, expertise in structural biology is required including protein purification and labeling, protein interaction and binding studies, as well as X-Ray crystallography. Candidates with expertise in NMR and Cryo-EM/ET will be also considered. For the second position, expertise in standard molecular biology techniques including CRISPR gene editing is required.
