The Institute of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Worzfeld, invites applications for a
The position is offered for a period of 4 years (in accordance with § 2 Abs.1 S.2 WissZeitVG). The starting date is as soon as possible. Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in the state of Hesse, Germany (TV-H E13, 100 %).
The Institute of Pharmacology is located at the Biochemical-Pharmacological Center (BPC), which focuses on neurobiology, epithelial biology and signal transduction. The lab of Thomas Worzfeld is interested in the molecular mechanisms of epithelial cell communication both under homeostatic conditions as well as during regeneration and in cancer. A particular emphasis of the lab is on semaphorins, a family of axon guidance cues, and their receptors, plexins. The Institute of Pharmacology collaborates intensively with the Max-Planck-Institute in Bad Nauheim.
The position is available in the exciting and emerging field of neuroepithelial circuits and aims at unraveling the molecular mechanisms and functional relevance of communication pathways between epithelial cells and neurons. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and creative scientist holding a PhD in life sciences (e. g. biology, medicine). Techniques will include molecular and cellular biology methods (e. g. neuroepithelial co-cultures, organoid cultures), advanced imaging (e. g. light sheet microscopy, two-photon microscopy), as well as analysis of genetically-modified mice. Experience in neurobiology would be advantageous.
The University of Marburg is one of the most beautiful old university towns in Europe. We offer a dynamic working environment at the Biochemical-Pharmacological Center and stimulating scientific surroundings in an international and motivated team.
We support women and strongly encourage them to apply. In areas where women are underrepresented, women will be preferred in the case of equal qualifications.
