Job vacancy No. 057-2019
The Institute Theory of Polymers at the Leibniz-Institut of Polymer Research Dresden offers a
post-doc position (scientist) with 40 hours per week
in the field of the theory and simulation of amphi-philic polymer networks.
The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) is one of the largest polymer research facilities in Germany. As an institute of the Leibniz Association, the IPF is committed to carrying out application-oriented basic research and receives its base funding in equal parts from the federal and state governments.
This opening is embedded within the interdisciplinary research network „Adaptive polymer gels with controlled network structure“ (DFG research network FOR 2811) and intensive cooperation with the project partners is expected. The research network contains 14 researches (including 5 Professors) at 6 different Universities or research centers throughout Germany. Focus of the research is the control of structure formation in amphi-philic model networks. The properties of these networks (stability, modulus, relaxation behaviour, equilibrium swelling, …) need to be correlated to the microscopic network structure by computer simulations and should be described with theoretical models of network theory, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, or dynamics.
A promising candidate possesses an outstanding Ph. D. degree in physics or chemistry with a sound knowledge of satistical physics, thermodynamcis and advanced programming skills. Sound knowledge of simulation techniques in soft condensed matter physics or theoretical chemistry are expected.
Start: as soon as possible
Initial contract: 3 years (with the possibility of an extension for 3 years)
Salary group: TV-L EG 13
Preference is given to severely disabled applicants, if they have the same level of qualification. IPF attaches importance to equal professional treatment of women and men. No data shall be passed on to third parties. The costs for the interviews will not be refunded.
Please send your Applications with indication of Job vavancy No and include the following documents: motivation letter stating research interests and relevance for the PhD project, curriculum vitae, degree certificates including lists of grades, the name and contact details of least 2 potential referees, maximum three selected publications, including, when applicable, maximum one thesis. Application documents specifying the above vacancy number should be submitted to the personnel department of the IPF, preferentially by email in one single pdf document not exceeding 10 MB.
