a PostDoc (m/f/d)

Our interdisciplinary and active team is offering a position for a talented and highly motivated PhD candidate with special interest in immune biology, stem cells and microphysiological systems (e. g., organ-on-chip). The Research Group INSPIRE is part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Sepsis Research and is funded by the DFG, the BMBF, and the EU. Our research interests are on the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory and infectious diseases. In the research project imSAVAR (Immune Safety Avatar) funded by the European Commission, we are developing next generation Organ-on-chip Systems for the study of novel immunomodulatory therapies. The project aims to identify adverse effects of new therapies on the immune system, the development of new biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of immune-mediated pharmacological effects and toxicities, and research into mechanisms of toxicity. The interdisciplinary consortium comprises 28 international partners from eleven countries and includes university and non-university research institutes, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and regulatory authorities. The project will focus on the development of organ-on-chip models and tailored application methods.

We welcome applications from candidates fulfilling
the following criteria:

• Excellent PhD in cell biology, molecular medicine, immunology, bioengineering or related natural sciences
• Experience in stem cell biology and differentiation, experience in working with organ-on-chip will be a plus
• Practical and theoretical experience in isolation and sub cultivation of immune cells
• Proven track record of publications
• Very good language proficiency in English Candidates with a high level of motivation, enthusiasm, excellent communication and teamwork skills
