We are now inviting applications for a postdoc fellowship at Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN), Linköping University, Sweden.

The successful candidate will lead a neuroimaging project investigating the bodily self experience in healthy individuals and psychiatric populations. The focus will be on basic mechanisms of self-other distinction in the brain and the spinal cord, on altered states of self-perception and on schizophrenia. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the exciting cross-section of interoception, social neuroscience and psychiatry.

The postdoc will work at CSAN with Prof. Markus Heilig, Prof. Håkan Olausson and Dr. Rebecca Boehme. At CSAN, we offer an international, young research environment with regular seminars and invited guest speakers. We provide great research infrastructure, including the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization, with access to a dedicated research 3T Siemens scanner. In addition to the main project, the candidate will also have opportunities to work with cutting-edge techniques such as facial EMG, TMS, EEG and fNIRS. The candidate will work closely with other lab members and supervise students and research assistants.

The fellowship will be available in summer 2020, though start date is somewhat flexible. The initial appointment is for one year, with the opportunity for renewal thereafter.

Qualifications: Candidates should have (a) a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, biology or biomedicine) by the start date; (b) a publication record that includes fMRI and empirical data analysis.

Additional desirable skills are:

-         prior experience with Matlab, SPM, Presentation,

-         prior experience working with psychiatric populations,

-         prior experience with spinal cord fMRI data,

-         prior experience with pharmacological imaging studies,

-         ability to work in a team, excellent interpersonal skills.


Appointment as a postdoc requires a PhD. Since this is part of an international recruitment program, the candidate must not hold Swedish citizenship or a Swedish PhD degree.
