The Enzymology & Metabolism Research Group at the LCSB is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to participate in a project entitled Harnessing the power of yeast genetics to elucidate the metabolism and epigenetic effects of the oncometabolite 2-hydroxyglutarate. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist to investigate 2-hydroxyglutarate metabolism and epigenetic changes induced by this metabolite in the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The successful applicant will focus primarily on the metabolic aspects, while closely collaborating with a PhD student in the group of Dr. Lasse Sinkkonen focusing mostly on the epigenetic analyses.

Your Profile:

  • PhD degree in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related disciplines, preferably with a focus on cell metabolism and/or epigenetics
  • Strong theoretical background and practical experience in yeast genetics and metabolic biochemistry
  • Previous experience with handling yeast, mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, transcriptomics and ChIP-Seq analyses will be considered as important assets
  • Solid computational and biostatistics skills are required
  • Excellent English writing and speaking skills are essential
  • The candidate will be integrated into a collaborative environment and needs to have excellent communication skills
