Postdoc in Electrical Characterisation of Advanced thin Films using Terahertz Spectroscopy

NANOMADE – The Nanoscale Materials and Devices section at DTU Physics is focused on basic and applied research in low-dimensional materials, and is hosting the Centre of Excellence, CNG – Center for Nanostructured Graphene. The 2D Electronic Materials group focus on electronic matterials, devices and metrology.

Responsibilities and tasks
DTU wish to employ a post-doctoral researcher for 30 months to carry out research in electrical properties of advanced thin films (including 2D materials) using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS), and to develop THz-TDS based methods for fast, accurate and reproducible mapping of the electronic properties of graphene and other two-dimensional materials.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics or equivalent.

The postdoc will be selected based on the following qualifications

  • Solid theoretical background and knowledge of concepts and methods in the field/literature, especially within electronics, optics and applications of 2D materials and advanced thin films.
  • Experience with terahertz time-domain spectroscopy or THz physics
  • Other relevant characterisation techniques for graphene such as Raman spectroscopy, SEM, TEM and AFM and electrical measurements.
Preference will be given to candidates with
  • Scientific production and research potential at international level
  • Innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • Independent problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and language skills
  • Experience with international collaborations and collaborations with industry

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The period for the 30-month postdoc is carried out at the Technical University of Denmark in Kgs. Lyngby.
