Job description:

As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

The Institute of Computational Biology (ICB) is a globally recognized department for innovations in data analysis and modeling of biological systems, anchored at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich and the Technical University Munich.

We recently got granted a project for the human cell atlas initiative, a global initiative for creating a reference map of all cells of the human body. The project "A spatial cell type reference atlas of the adult human heart" is funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative within the call "Seed networks for the Human Cell Atlas".

At the next possible time the ICB is looking for a

Postdoc – heart cell atlas (f/m/d)

for the CZI funded human cell atlas project "A spatial cell type reference atlas of the adult human heart".

Your mission

You will be analyzing single cell OMICS-data from the human heart, in particular scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq and spatial transcriptomics. You will implement, develop and extend methods for analyzing single cell OMICS-data, in particular for the integration of data sets from different labs, technologies and OMICS-types.

Your qualifications

You are an independent creative thinker driven by curiosityPhD degree in bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science, mathematics, physics or equivalentBackground in statistical data analysis, ideally for (sc)RNAseq dataStrong coding skills, preferably in Python and/or RStrong interest in biological applicationsPassion for science and scientific workProficient in written and spoken EnglishExperience in international interdisciplinary research teamsExperience in computational methods development
