As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our international research team at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the newly established Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich.

Job Description

Develop and apply computational methods for data integration of high dimensional data sets (Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics) Additional integration and analysis of genomic and metabolic data and additional clinical parameters.Development and evaluation of integrated metabolic models with regard to insulin resistance and Type 2 Diabetes in different tissues.

Your Qualifications

Master’s Degree and PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a related subjectHigh motivation, curiosity, and commitment to scientific excellenceStrong programming skillsGood knowledge of statisticsA genuine interest in quantitative biology especially in metabolism/diabetesPrior experience in data analysis/modelling of biological omics data (transcriptomics)Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environmentExcellent command in written and spoken EnglishIndependent and responsible attitude, collaborative spirit
