A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas De Raedt. The De Raedt lab aims to develop novel successful therapies, including immunotherapy, for children with brain tumors by dissecting the fundamental processes of tumor biology and by developing relevant mouse models. We currently are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate how alterations in RAS pathway signaling, caused by loss of NF1, cooperates with mutations in the epigenetic driver ATRX and investigate how this affects drug sensitivity. Full funding for the project is in place. Our laboratory uses a range of molecular and cellular biological techniques together with mouse models to elucidate the molecular basis of cancer. Importantly, whenever possible we extend and translate these findings and develop novel therapies that inspire clinical trials. We are located in one of the top children’s hospital, Children’s Hospital Philadelphia, and university in the US (University of Pennsylvania) and thus benefit from an excellent academic and professional environment. The successful candidate will join our growing dynamic team. (S)he will participate in the writing of project plans, publications and contribute to managing project efforts, additionally (S)he may help to supervise and mentor research members (students and/or technicians). REQUIREMENTS Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in cancer biology, cell biology or related field; minimum of 2-3 years hands-on experience; must be comfortable with high volume complex data, experimental designs, and familiarity and/or willingness to work with mouse models, familiarity with genomic analysis and/or immunotherapy a plus; excellent communication and organizational skills.

-Troubleshoot issues at each stage of the project; Document, compile and analyze experimental data.
-Interact with computational biologists and statisticians for more sophisticated analyses
-Work with members of the lab, and with scientists from other laboratories, on collaborative projects
-Provide scientific and technical guidance to other members of the laboratory
-All other duties, as assigned
-Reports project results to the team, prepares results for presentation at meetings, and participates in grant and manuscript writing.
-Ph.D. in cancer biology, cell biology or related field, with a publication track record.
-Experience or willingness to work with mouse models. Experience with survival surgery are a plus.
-Must have the ability to interact with an interdisciplinary group including disease area biologists,chemists, data analysts, laboratory biologists, and computer scientists.
-Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills required, together with a ‘can-do’ attitude and enthusiasm for working in a team environment.
