Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role you produce AAV vectors and characterize their tropism in mice to identify capsid variants and routes of administration enabling efficient gene modulation in defined target organs.
  • In this project, you make use of state-of-the-art technologies, including histological and genomic approaches (e.g. barcoding) to characterize vector tropism and target gene modulation.
  • Suitable vectors are applied to study target biology or to set up disease-related models for early drug discovery research.
  • You closely interact with scientists from different areas within Boehringer Ingelheim’s global research organization, including colleagues from Research Beyond Borders, Inflammation & Respiratory Diseases Research and Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences.
  • In addition, you are part of the Boehringer Ingelheim global postdoctoral community and present your work at the Boehringer Ingelheim Postdoc days.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines / life sciences
  • Profound knowledge of molecular and cell biological techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of AAV vectors with demonstrated expertise in vector production and either capsid engineering or AAV in vivo application
  • Experience with sequencing or biophysical analytics is an advantage
  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team of scientists with excellent written and oral communication skills
