Institute of Polymer Research
Area of research:
Physicist, Chemist, Material Scientist (m/f/d) (PhD) with management responsibilities
At the Institute of Polymer Research membranes for gas and liquid separations are developed. With its interdisciplinary approach the institute covers the entire spectrum from basic research to industrial application. A large and modern infrastructure is available in microscopy, polymer synthesis and characterization, as well as in process engineering. In addition digitization and computer simulation play an increasingly important role.
For our group Instrumental Structure Analysis we are looking for a leader – from February 1st 2020, unlimited. The group characterizes the morphology and chemical structure of nanostructured polymers and nanocomposites. A wide range of microscopic methods are available at the institute (scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, optical microscopy, Raman microscopy). In addition morphological studies are carried out by synchrotron X-ray scattering at DESY.
? Head of Instrumental Structural Analysis, including Human Resources and Budget Responsibility
? Order management from the order clarification, the consultation with microscopic questions over the control of the execution up to the reporting
? Methodical development of preparation techniques as well as analysis methods for the identification of material properties on complex material systems
? Conception, sample preparation, execution and evaluation of examinations up to publication maturity
? Completed scientific higher education in the field of physics, chemistry or materials science with doctorate
? Relevant professional experience with microscopy, ideally on polymeric materials and preferably with leadership experience
? In-depth knowledge in the physics and chemistry of polymers
? Experience in computer simulation is an advantage
? Very good German and English skills
? Systematic and structured working style with a self-responsible working method
