The National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s disease (NCER-PD) was set up in Luxembourg in 2015 with the support of the Fonds National de Recherche. NCER-PD is an interdisciplinary project, combining clinical, experimental and computational approaches to Parkinson’s disease research. The focus is on improving the diagnosis and stratification of Parkinson’s disease, with an ultimate goal of earlier diagnosis, preventative treatment and personalised medicine.

The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) and the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg are partners within the NCER-PD with the other biomedical research institutions in Luxembourg and collaborate with international partners and initiatives.

The CHL, together with the LCSB, is seeking to appoint a Physician-Scientist for specialisation training in Neurology to join the multi-disciplinary study team:

Physician-Scientist in Neurology (m/f)

Your responsibilities

  • Clinical care within inpatient and outpatient care at the Neurology Department of the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg
  • Recruitment of patients for the Cohort Study of the National Research Centre for Excellence in Parkinson’s disease
  • Setup and optimisation of workflows for patient recruitment
  • Active participation in clinical studies for improved diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases
  • Coordination of scientific projects with national and international collaboration partners on research projects
  • Perform clinical testing and neurological examinations
  • Applying tests for assessing functions in different neurological disorders
  • Teach students on clinical and research aspects of neurodegenerative disorders
  • Presenting at public events for information of lay public or medical professionals (
  • Presenting the results on scientific meetings
  • Writing scientific publications and grant applications

Your profile

  • Medical degree
  • Interest in clinical research and neurodegeneration
  • Independent, highly motivated and committed
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Fluent spoken and written French and/or German, good knowledge of English, and willingness to improve fluency in languages generally
  • Good computer skills for standard software (Excel, Word, etc.)
