Infections with highly pathogenic influenza A viruses (HPAIV) can lead to severe inflammation, pneumonia and viral sepsis due to cytokine dysregulation during innate and adaptive immune responses. The Institute of Molecular Virology is seeking two highly motivated PhD students to investigate the mechanism underlying this immune hyperactivation during HPAIV infections. The projects involve animal experiments as well as work with primary human lung tissue. The candidates are required to have practical experience in working with mouse models as well as primary tissues and need to have a strong background in RNA virology, immunology and cell biology. In addition, this project requires a high level of self-organisation, discipline and team compatibility. Required computer skills include known office programs and Graph Pad Prism.
We offer these positions in an international team of highly motivated researchers in a multidisciplinary and supportive environment. We closely collaborate with clinicians from the UKM as well as other research teams in Germany. The positions are vacant in the group of Prof. Dr. Stephan Ludwig and Dr. Linda Brunotte at the Institute of Molecular Virology at the ZMBE of the Westfälische Wilhelms-University of Münster.
