Our institute is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to study the molecular mechanisms of cell organization and dynamics. We are an interdisciplinary team of biologists, physicists and computer scientists and combine classical molecular biology, cell biology and genetics with high-end light microscopy, quantitative image analysis and mathematical modeling. Our studies in yeast and mammalian cells address fundamental features of cell organization and dynamics, such as self-organization, active transport and mechanical stability.

Current projects focus on various aspects of cell cortex organization, including cortical actin dynamics, acto-myosin networks, plasma membrane organization, endo-/exocytosis and cell polarization.

We offer a scientifically inspiring environment with great opportunities for collaborative projects at the interface between different disciplines.

Interested candidates should have a solid background in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics or informatics/computational biology, well-developed communication skills, and a strong motivation to work in an international team on exciting topics in cell biology.
