The Institute Solar Fuels is looking for


PhD Student (f/m/d) "Towards optimized interfaces for solar water splitting devices "


Tasks




  • Development of metal oxide-based passivation layers for photoelectrodes with atomic layer deposition (ALD)

  • Experimental characterization of surface and interface electronic structure

  • (Photo)electrochemical characterization of modified semiconductor surfaces

  • Development of interface passivation strategies to minimize efficiency losses in photoelectrodes, in close collaboration with our project partners in theory

  • Communication of results through publications and conference participation

Requirements

  • Masters Degree/Diploma in physics, physical chemistry, or materials science
  • Solid background in semiconductors and thin film synthesis and characterization
  • Basic knowledge of (photo)electrochemistry and surface analysis techniques (e.g. XPS)
  • Passion for research
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
