The Young Investigator Group Material Transformations in Electrocatalysts is looking for


PhD Student (f/m/d) in Electrochemistry


Tasks



  • Preparation of model electrode materials using Physical vapor deposition and their characterization by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, including synchrotron based methods, electrochemical measurements of their catalytic performance

  • Execution of experiments, analysis and communication of the obtained experimental data

  • Collaboration with partners within HZB, HI ERN and MPIE Dusseldorf

  • Writing papers and presenting the results in conferences, project meetings

The successful candidate will start working on the project at the MPIE Düsseldorf, developing expertise in advanced characterization methods known in material science, and continue the project in Erlangen and Berlin.

Requirements

  • Excellent university degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience in fundamental electrochemistry and one (or more) of the following is desirable: XPS methods or PVD techniques
  • High motivation for pursuing a PhD within 3 years, ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Excellent cooperation and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent skills in spoken and written English
