One doctoral (Ph.D.) student and one Postdoctoral Fellow positions are immediately available in Dr. Renfeng Li’s laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University to investigate Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-host cell interactions. Our research focuses on how host restriction factors restricts EBV replication and how viruses utilize cellular or viral enzymes to antagonize their restriction. This project involves CRISPR/Cas9 genomic editing, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, quantitative Mass Spectrometry with bioinformatic analysis and molecular biology/virology approaches.(For more info please visit our lab website Li Lab @ VCU, Ph.D. Program and the PI’s webpage).
Requirements: Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, ambitious and have strong interest in virology and viral pathogenesis. Prior experience with virology and molecular biology is considered an advantage but not required for this project. Postdoctoral candidates should have a recent Doctoral Degree (or soon to graduate) in the areas of virology, molecular or cell biology, biochemistry and/or immunology, and have published recent first author papers.
For Ph.D. student, competitive stipend and tuition support will be provided by the Graduate Program and the PI’s laboratory. For Postdoctoral Fellows, salary follows NIH guidelines.
Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file consisting of a CV, a brief description of their research experience and interests, and names and contact information of three referees to Dr. Renfeng Li (firstname.lastname@example.org) with subject title “Application for Postdoctoral Position” or “Application for Ph.D. Position”.
