PhD and Postdoc positions in regulation of metabolism
PhD and Postdoctoral positions are available at the laboratory of Dr. Grzegorz Sumara sponsored by the Dioscuri Center of Excellence (supported by Max Planck Society and the Polish National Science Center) and ERC Starting Grant. The positions are available within German-Polish collaborative project, part of which will be carried out at the Rudolf Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine, University of Wuerzburg, Germany: http://www.rudolf-virchow-zentrum.de/en/research/research-groups/sumara-group/research.html and major part at the Nencki Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland: http://en.nencki.gov.pl/
The main aim of our laboratory is to understand the cross-talk of different classes of signaling molecules in regulation of metabolic homeostasis. We are especially interested in unraveling novel signaling modules promoting adipose tissue dysfunction during metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes as well as cancer-associated cachexia.
Ambitious projects are available to investigate the impact of kinase- and ubiquitin-mediated signaling cascades on different aspects of metabolism using genetic, biochemical and high-throughput screening approaches.
The Rudolf Virchow Center is one of the best German basic research institutes focused on understanding biological mechanisms at the molecular, cellular and organism level:

The Nencki Institute is a leading research institute in Poland focused on different aspects of physiology and neurobiology and offers state-of-the-art research facilities and a vibrant, international scientific community: http://en.nencki.gov.pl/
The positions are initially funded for a limited period of time. Salary will be according to the collective agreement (TV-L) (for the part of the project carried out in Germany) and the guidelines of the National Science Center (for the part of project carried out in Poland). Disabled applicants will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualifications.
Motivated, curious and independent individuals interested in joining us in Wuerzburg and Warsaw should send a single pdf document with a cover letter stating the past and future research interests, CV and publication list to Dr. Grzegorz Sumara: firstname.lastname@example.org until 31.05.2019
Applications from students planning to defend their Master’s thesis during summer semester are also welcome as the starting date is negotiable.
