Stanford University

Open Rank Professor - Epidemiology and Population Health

Stanford University, United States

Stanford, CA, United States

The Stanford University School of Medicine seeks highly qualified candidates for a full-time University Tenure Line or Non-Tenure Line (Research) faculty position in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health (E&PH). E&PH is a basic science department within the School of Medicine. E&PH is the primary hub for epidemiologic teaching and research at Stanford, including methods for clinical research, with MS and PhD degree programs, an undergraduate co-terminal master’s degree, and strong ties to numerous training and research programs. Stanford is a highly interdisciplinary university, with the medical school sharing the same unitary campus with departments and programs in a wide domain of quantitative, social, physical and biologic sciences. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-Tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists. A doctoral level degree in Epidemiology or a related field, with research experience relating to career stage, is required. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

We seek outstanding applicants with demonstrated research excellence and creativity in population-based or clinical epidemiology, including methodology. All areas of specialization will be considered, particularly with a research program that crosses disciplinary boundaries with potential for linkages to other Stanford groups, working in areas such as environment and health, global/planetary health, social determinants of health, causal inference, machine learning and AI, early detection, mobile health, or clinical research. We invite applications from applicants at all ranks, appropriate for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, contingent on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will bring or develop a nationally recognized program of research and participate in the teaching of epidemiology at Masters and Doctoral levels.

Qualified applicants should send: (1) a letter that describes research and career interests and (2) a curriculum vitae, addressed to Steven Goodman, MD, MHS, PhD, Chair, Stanford Epidemiology Search Committee. Candidates applying to the Assistant Professor rank will be expected to supply three letters of reference. Candidates applying to the Associate/Full Professor rank will be expected to supply the names of three references upon request. Candidates are encouraged to apply electronically in one pdf file to: https://apply.interfolio.com/73397.
