The Herbert and Florence Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics (IICD) at Columbia University in the city of New York is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on the interplay between mathematical and computational sciences and cancer research. The IICD directed by Professor Simon Tavare FRS, encourages collaboration across disciplinary boundaries to develop aspects of science, engineering and the humanities that can improve understanding of cancer biology, origins, treatment and prevention.
The IICD is currently accepting applications for several positions in Statistics or Biological Sciences at the assistant, associate or full professor level to begin July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will work in the intersection of mathematical and computational sciences and cancer research, will be appointed in a department within the Arts and Sciences and will participate in the research, education and teaching activities of the Institute and the home department(s). The successful candidate is expected to have excellent research accomplishments and excellent promise for future development as a scientist and teacher, as well as be a team player who excels in highly interdisciplinary environments. Faculty will also be members of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, cancer evolution, computational biology, imaging, data science, statistics, cancer biology, single cell omics.
Applicants must have a PhD and active research in quantitative approaches to cancer problems. For tenure track candidates, successful pre-doctoral work, as well as a successful post-doctoral record are expected.
