The Max Planck Institute of Biophysics is an internationally leading research institution in the fields of structural biology, biophysics and cell biology located at the center of the Frankfurt science campus. We invite applications for two
Max Planck Research Group Leaders (W2)
Applicants should hold an advanced degree in Physics, Life Sciences or related disciplines and have significant post-doctoral experience with a publication track record that demonstrates their scientific competence and leadership potential. They are expected to develop an internationally competitive research program that integrates well into the overall research program of the institute, which ranges from membrane biology to subcellular architecture and logistics. Synergies with the neighboring institutes of the Goethe University or the MPI for Brain Research are considered a benefit. Researchers working in one or more of the following scientific areas are particularly encouraged to apply:
structural biology, proteomics, metabolomics, advanced light microscopy, molecular labeling and spectroscopic techniques
artificial intelligence, integrative structural modeling and simulation, image processing, path-way engineering
molecular transport, organelle contacts and biogenesis, synthetic organelles and self-organization of subcellular architecture, cell to cell communication, microbial communities
The position is a Max Planck Research Group Leader (MPRGL), equivalent to an Associate Professor (W2). The initial appointment is for 5 years with the possibility of extension (2×2 years) after international review. For more general information please see also: https://www.mpg.de/mprg/faqs. We offer a competitive start-up package, and generous access to the cutting-edge central facilities of our institute that include large scale computing, cryo electron microscopy (including 2 Titan Krios), mass spectrometry (including several Orbitraps), mechanic and electronic workshops, protein production and cell culture facilities, as well as a light microscopy facility that is presently being set up.
Please submit your application with a detailed CV, a list of publications, a selection of five most important publications, a research plan (no longer than 5 pages), and contact details of at least 3 references to firstname.lastname@example.org. For inquiries about the positions please contact email@example.com.
The Institute and the Max Planck Society intend to enhance the proportion of women in areas where they are underrepresented, and they are therefore especially encouraged to apply. The Max-Planck Society welcomes and encourages applications by disabled individuals.
