Job title: Locum Associate/Senior Editor,
Department: Nature Reviews Materials
Nature Reviews Materials has a vacancy for a Locum Associate/Senior Editor for a period of 9 months initially.
In January 2016, Nature Reviews Materials – the first Nature Reviews title in the physical sciences – was launched by Springer Nature. The journal publishes Reviews, Comments and Perspectives in all areas of materials science. In a short timeframe, Nature Reviews Materials has established itself as a well-respected, high-profile and ‘must-read’ journal in the materials science community.
We have an exciting opportunity available for a physical scientist to join our editorial team as a locum Associate or Senior Editor working on all aspects of the journal.
The Associate/Senior Editor role is demanding and intellectually stimulating and calls for a keen interest in the practice and communication of materials science. The successful candidate will, therefore, be dynamic, motivated and outgoing, and must possess excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will commission articles, edit manuscripts, organise peer review, write for the journal, and develop the journal’s website and social media presence.
The successful candidate must be prepared to travel – attending International conferences and doing lab visits.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a materials science-related discipline. In particular, we are interested in applicants with research experience in energy materials, however, we welcome applicants from all materials science backgrounds. Previous editorial experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
The position will be based in the London office of Springer Nature. Applicants should send: a CV; ideas (topics & potential authors) of 5 Review articles to commission for the journal; and a cover letter explaining their interest in the post and their salary expectations.
Closing date: 24th May 2019
