1. The Position:
USTC is now recruiting a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as the founding Executive Dean of School of BME in USTC. This person will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of BME and reports to the Director for Division of Life Sciences and Medicine. The Executive Dean also serves as the official liaison between the Honorary Dean of BME School and the Director of Division of Life Sciences and Medicine.
The Executive Dean will provide strategic leadership in BME education, research, international cooperation and public service. He or she will be responsible for integration of several top-notch BME-related programs in USTC. The Executive Dean will lead USTC effort to recruit additional outstanding investigators in several focused areas including (but not exclusive of) medical physics, medical materials, medical informatics and AI, and biomedical imaging. Although the initial appointment for position of BME Executive Dean is for 5 years, the qualified person may choose to lead an independent research group and serve as a tenured professor with a typical academic appointment.
USTC invites applications and nominations of prominent scholars in the field of biomedical engineering with administrative experience as candidates for the position. Qualified candidates should currently hold a tenured professor position or equivalent in a leading research institution, with demonstrated academic excellence and achievement as well as leadership experience. The qualified candidate should be fluent in both English and Chinese in conducting academic activities; no restriction on person’s current citizenship. The salary and financial compensation for this position is equivalent or better than an equivalent position in a world-leading research institution.

Anhui Provincial Hospital located in the city of Hefei recently became the first affiliated hospital of USTC. The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, with a history of 120 years, was founded in 1898 as Hefei Christian Hospital and is a large Grade 3A comprehensive hospital.

Fields: Immunology, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Pathology, Cancer Biology, Molecular and Cellular Imaging, Pharmacology, Reproduction and Development, Molecular and Cellular Biophysics.
