The Wistar Institute

Lab-Tian - Post-Doctoral Fellow in RNA Systems and Computational Biology

The Wistar Institute

Philadelphia, PA, United States

The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Bin Tian. Motivated individuals interested in studying RNA systems and computational biology in cancer and immunity are encouraged to apply.

The Tian lab uses interdisciplinary approaches to study RNA biogenesis and metabolism, with a special focus on the molecular mechanisms and cellular consequences of alternative cleavage and polyadenylation (Nat Rev Mol Cell Biol. 18:18-30). The lab employs a variety of cutting-edge techniques spanning multiple fields, including molecular biology, functional genomics, bioinformatics, and imaging. Detailed research topics and publications can be found at https://wistar.org/our-scientists/bin-tian.

The Tian Lab is especially interested in recruiting applicants that fall into either one of the following categories: 1) molecular biologists interested in expanding their skill set in bioinformatics; or 2) computational biologists interested in advancing experience in a wet lab setting to explore molecular mechanisms. Applicants should also have a collaborative spirit in pursuing biological and clinical significance of their findings.

Candidates should have a PhD degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree in a related field. In addition to the online application, a curriculum vitae with a summary of previous research and contact information of 2-3 referees should be sent to Dr. Bin Tian, btian@wistar.org.

The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides outstanding intellectual environments, state-of-the-art facilities, and streamlined administrative support to its faculty and staff, enabling cutting-edge research, especially in collaborative settings. Research discoveries conducted at Wistar have led to the development of vaccines; the identification of key genes associated with cancers; and the development of many other significant research technologies and tools.

We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
