We are Europe’s flagship research laboratory for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organisation performing scientific research in disciplines including molecular biology, physics, chemistry and computer science. We are an international, innovative and interdisciplinary laboratory with more than 1600 employees from many nations, operating across six sites, in Heidelberg (HQ), Barcelona, Hinxton near Cambridge, Hamburg, Grenoble and Rome.

Our Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) consists of several organisational units providing service to EMBL investigators.


Your role


Responsibilities include daily husbandry and monitoring of laboratory animals maintained in IVCs under Specific pathogen free (SPF) conditions. Additional duties include providing technical services for scientists who use laboratory animals for research. Participation in the weekend duty rotation is obligatory. Ability to work in barrier facility with shower-in access is required.


You have


Training or certification as a laboratory animal technician is required. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. High work ethics, reliability, attention to detail and flexibility are essential. Working knowledge of English is essential, Computer skills are desirable.

Knowledge of German is advantageous.
