The Opportunity:
We have a new opportunity for an IT Solutions Project Manager to join our Tree of Life Team.

About the Research:
The Darwin Tree of Life Project is a major national initiative, led by the Wellcome Sanger Institute, to provide high-quality ‘reference’ genome sequences for all eukaryotic species in the Atlantic archipelago (Britain and Ireland). The project includes a wide range of partners across the UK such as the National History Museum (NHM), Kew Gardens, The Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, The Earlham Institute, Wytham Woods and the Marine Biological Association (MBA).

About the Role:
The role holder will be responsible for the project management and successful delivery of the samples tracking systemisation (STS) project. This will include discovery, design, test and delivery of the STS product as well as ensuring project delivery is on time, to budget and to the necessary quality. This role will include working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a highly complex, ever evolving environment. This role will also include establishing the Database team who will be the product owners, as well as being responsible for the development of their skills/knowledge of the STS.

About You:
You will have experience of implementing successful IT/technology platforms in a project management role. You will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills
• Experience of multiple successful IT/technology platform implementations in a project management role.
• A formal project management qualification
• Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
• Demonstrates inclusivity and respect for all
• Experience of managing external partners leading to successful delivery
• Excellent organisation skills

Ideal Skills
• Experience of LIMS or sample tracking systemisation projects.
• Experience of working in an Agile way and delivering incrementally.
• A formal Agile project management qualification
• Experience of delivering technology solutions for biotech, pharma or medical organisations.
