We invite highly qualified and motivated students with a strong interest in Microbiology, who hold a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Natural or Life Sciences, to apply for the

International Max Planck Research School for Environmental, Cellular, and Molecular Microbiology (IMPRS-Mic).

IMPRS-Mic in Marburg is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and the Philipps-Universität. More than 25 internationally renowned group leaders are participating in the PhD programme and offer PhD projects in the following research areas:

Biochemistry and Structural Biology
Microbial Ecology and Interactions
Molecular and Cellular Microbiology
Microbial Genomics
Systems and Synthetic Microbiology

The IMPRS-Mic is a three-year PhD programme that provides interdisciplinary training in a vibrant, international scientific community and access to state-of-the-art research facilities equipping our students with expertise and opportunities to embark on their own scientific journey. A cutting-edge PhD project is complemented by seminars and lectures, scientific and soft skill workshops, as well as international conferences and retreats. The official language of the school is English.

The closing date for the application is January 31, 2020. Accepted candidates may start their PhD projects already in the summer, but no later than October 2020.
