The research of this institute focuses on intercellular communication and signal transduction pathways of epithelial cells, including epithelial stem cells, both in homeostasis as well as during regeneration and in cancer. The institute is located at the Biochemical-Pharmacological Center (BPC) and collaborates intensely with the Center of Tumor Biology and Immunology (ZTI), the University Clinic Giessen-Marburg (UKGM), the Faculty of Biology, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim.
