Immunology/Molecular Biology Postdoctoral Position Laboratory of Molecular Immunology and the Immunology Center National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Health and Human Services Dr. Warren J. Leonard, Director of the Immunology Center, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, NIH, Bethesda, MD is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in the field of immunology. The laboratory is known for its major contributions to the biology, signaling, and regulation of the common gamma chain family of cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21), with studies including normal physiology and human disease and mouse models. Current projects encompass the identification of new biological actions for cytokines and their metabolic effects, the use of novel cytokine partial agonists to modulate cytokine signaling to achieve more effective tumor immunity, studies of STAT-based super-enhancers and epigenetic studies, and the identification of modulators of cytokine signaling by CRISPR-Cas9, BioID2, and computational genomics approaches. We use a range of transgenic, knockout, and knock-in mice, normal donor and patient cells, and in vivo tumor model systems to elucidate physiological and pathological mechanisms related to signal transduction, gene regulation, and epigenetics. State-of-the-art methodologies are used in vitro and in vivo, including a range of next generation sequencing approaches. The laboratory is highly interactive with collaborators at NIH and across the country. The ideal candidate will be innovative, interactive, and have a strong background in immunology and/or molecular biology. The candidate must have received or fulfilled the requirements to receive a Ph.D. and/or an M.D. degree. The candidate will be supported with an excellent intramural NIH fellowship in a stimulating and interactive research environment at NIH. Applicants ideally will be within 5 years of their doctoral degree.
