Head of Screening & Compound Profiling
Location: Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge
Full-time, 35 hours (part-time/4 days will be considered)
Cancer Research UK’s Therapeutic Discovery Laboratories (CRUK-TDL), is the in-house CRUK drug discovery unit with a principal focus on establishing and prosecuting biologically-themed multi-project alliances with industrial partners. Based at the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre, TDL comprises over 90 staff from both industrial and academic backgrounds.
Due to the current incumbent leaving us for retirement, we now have this incredible opportunity available for a talented and ambitious drug discovery scientist to join the Therapeutic Discovery leadership team in Cambridge.
You will lead, mentor and develop a team of drug discovery scientists (15+ staff), focused on building and delivering hit identification and compound profiling capabilities across all programmes and alliances. The team comprises expertise spanning molecular and cellular assay development, high throughput screening, mechanistic biochemistry and biophysics. Critical input to target and Alliance prosecution rationale in a collaborative manner will be a key component, as will the ability to forge relationships with both our academic and industrial stake-holders. As one of the senior members of staff within CRUK-TDL strategic input will be expected, and the individual will be a member of the CRUK-TDL Leadership Team and may lead one of our Alliances. There is also the potential to play a leading role in Joint Steering Committees with industry partners.
