As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

Head of Finance (f/m/d)
Management of all tasks within the Finance Department. In particular, budget planning, budgeting and financial management, funding management, third-party funds and management accountingOptimisation of financial processes, information tools and any management-related toolsContinuous development of the entire finance and resource management including cost control of the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU) in cooperation with other administrative units (e.g. purchasing and HR) Monitoring and management of the annual financial statementsClarification of fiscal policy and case-by-case decisions of particular importance with the competent authorities and bodiesPreparation of reports with regards to management of the HMGU’s economic situation, including forecastingPersonnel responsibility for 68 employees (at present)Direct reporting line to the management board
Successfully completed university degree in economics or a comparable qualification; a doctorate is desirable, but not a requirementSeveral years of relevant senior professional experience – ideally from an organisation of comparable complexity and size in a science-related fieldBusiness know-how and practical experience in change management Sound legal knowledge, especially in the area of budgetary, tax and accounting lawKnowledge in the organisation of financial processes using SAPExperienced and charismatic leaderCooperative, motivating leadership style, which is aligned to the cultural characteristics of a non-university research institution Mature personality with strong communication skillsHighly service-, result- and solution-orientated
