Ocular Genomics Institute, Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Harvard Medical School
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the research team in the Ocular Genomics Institute (OGI) at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE), Harvard Medical School as Genomics Operations Manager. Researchers in the OGI use genomic techniques to improve our understanding of the genetic causality of and to develop genetic therapies for blinding inherited eye diseases. The OGI’s Genomics Core provides clinical genetic diagnostic testing and research services, such as whole exome and whole genome sequencing, SNP-based genotype analyses, and copy number variant (CNV) analyses to OGI investigators and the wider vision research community. The successful candidate for this position will possess technical skills needed to perform DNA and RNA library preparation, sequencing analyses using Illumina NovaSeq, HiSeq and MiSeq platforms, and CNV analyses using the Illumina SNP Chip/iScan platform. In addition to adept technological skills, we are seeking candidates with the ability to manage, supervise and coordinate the efforts of the genomics technical staff. Requirements: Qualified candidates should hold MS, PhD degrees or relevant certification with two to four years recent and relevant experience. Experience with targeted enrichment library preparation and next-generation sequencing is required. SNP array and Sanger sequencing experience is preferred. Ability to provide frontline management support for a complex, cutting-edge, team-oriented research and service operation is also necessary.
