The Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine at RUTGERS – New Jersey Medical School is seeking a full-time’ surgeon for research projects in rodents and other animal models. Responsibilities: Under direction of the Principal Investigator, will be to perform cardiovascular surgery in mice or rats, such as myocardial infarction, transverse aortic constriction, etc, and perform measurements of hemodynamics, and collect tissue for pathological and biochemical experiments. Provide pre and post op care and basic scientific research activities.
Qualifications: DVM, or PhD, or MD in a related field required, including at least 3 years of research experience relating cardiovascular surgery in rodent or other animal models. Must possess good skills in computer and data analysis. Experience relating cardiovascular surgery in large animal models (pigs, dogs, monkeys, rabbits, woodchucks) a plus. U.S. citizen, green card or visa a plus. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends when necessary to meet deadlines.
