Full Professorship (W3) of Food Safety and Food Analysis (Chair)

commencing as soon as possible.

The successful applicant should excel internationally and her/his scientific interests will focus on basic as well as on application-oriented research relevant to food hygiene, ideally in the field of meat hygiene. The scientific focus of work encompasses bacterial and parasitic agents of zoonotic diseases, organisms that cause spoilage, residues and contaminants (especially mycotoxins) in the food chain.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree in veterinary medicine, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.

Specific qualifications in meat and/or food hygiene or microbiology (Fachtierarzt) or an international board certification in Veterinary Public Health (ECVPH) are required. Perennial experience in generating research funds from national and international sources is essential.

Candidates are expected to develop an intensive cooperation with scientific units within and outside of the veterinary campus with the goal to strengthen the one health concept in research and teaching at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Munich.

According to domestic legal guidelines (TAppV) the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching veterinary students in the fields of food hygiene, meat inspection and dairy science with special emphasis on hygiene of meat and meat products.

As communication with students, staff, industry and stakeholder will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is germane for the successful candidate to demonstrate the sincere willingness to become proficient in the German language.
