The Faculty of Biological Sciences at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany invites applications for a professorship to be filled by 1 April 2021:
Full Professor (W3) Zoology
The Institute of Zoology and Evolutionary Research announces the position of a full professorship (m/f/o) in Zoology, also including the directorate of the Phyletisches Museum. Based on strong expertise in evolutionary zoology and phylogenetic background a scientific focus on e.g. evolutionary morphology, molecular phylogenetics/phylogenomics or developmental biology is expected. A comprehensive representation of organismic zoology in research and teaching with a clear focus on evolution is essential. Applications from candidates with a broad spectrum of methods and ideas to establish new future-oriented accents and research foci are encouraged. The successful candidate will have a strong research programme complementing the faculty’s existing strengths. She/he is expected to develop cooperation within the faculty, connecting with established fields of research (e. g. microbial communication, biodiversity or ageing research). Teaching will cover zoological morphology, phylogeny, and evolution in classes in the German B. Sc. and English M. Sc. study programmes.
Conditions of employment include a doctoral degree and habilitation or an equivalent scientific qualification. Active acquisition of third-party funding, high didactic skills as well as leadership skills are expected. If the successful candidate meets the legal requirements, he or she will be appointed as civil servant permanently.
