The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Full Professor in » Engineering Geodesy «
to begin in summer semester 2021. The position is a tenured W3 position.
The professorship belongs to the newly founded TUM Department of Aerospace and Geodesy and will be cross-appointed with the TUM Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering. Our aim is to become the leading European center in the field of Aerospace and Geodesy – from new transport systems through communications and satellite technology to observing and measuring our planet with unprecedented precision: “Mission Earth” (www.lrg.tum.de). The research and teaching activities benefit from the scientific environment of different TUM departments and Integrative Research Centers, all of which have potential and promising cross-references as well as cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Engineering Geodesy, in particular for innovative geodetic measurement techniques for setting-out of challenging constructions and advanced monitoring of structural, environmental or industrial objects. Furthermore, the successful candidate will operate the Geodetic Laboratory. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
Moreover, candidates should possess a full commitment to do interdisciplinary research, a proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attracting third party funding (AiF, BMBF, DFG, EU, etc.), in-depth competences in engineering geodesy and a proven ability to develop strategic concepts.
