Moffitt provides a highly collaborative environment emphasizing research with clinical impact and providing extensive support through institutional core facilities.

Molecular Oncology is chaired by an NCI R35-funded Outstanding Investigator and features a recently funded T32 Training Program for postdoctoral fellows integrating bioinformatics with traditional cancer biology approaches as well as strong track record of collaborative research leading to recent publications in top tier journals This department also benefits from interactions between cancer biologists, mathematical oncologists, and clinicians to elucidate cancer biology and translate basic science advances for the benefit of the patients. Research portfolios that align with the goals of the cancer center to develop programs in cancer metabolism, RNA biology, and tumor evolution are preferred, but not required.

Position Highlights:

Research projects should focus on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and their effects on the tumor microenvironment, cancer progression and metastasis. Successful candidates will have a track record of collaboration and should describe a research plan to translate aspects of their work to the clinic (bench to bedside) as part of their chalk talk.

The Ideal Candidate will:

- Develop and sustain an independent research program in molecular oncology that complements the Department’s existing strengths.

- Contribute to teaching in the Cancer Biology PhD Program, training postdoctoral and clinical fellows, and communicating with both the scientific and lay community.

- Engage in research that benefits the patient population at Moffitt.

Credentials and Qualifications:

PhD or MD/PhD degree, suitable doctoral and postdoctoral training in cancer biology and an outstanding track record of top-tier publications.

The recruitment package includes a highly competitive salary, laboratory start-up fund, ample laboratory space and a stimulating and highly collaborative and collegial environment with opportunities to translate basic science findings to the clinic.

Qualified applicants should send a cover letter, their Curriculum Vitae, a synopsis of their past and current research programs (2-4 pages), and the names of 3 individuals who could provide letters of reference to Dr. Elsa R. Flores, Chair of the Department of Molecular Oncology at Moffitt, via e-mail to elsa.flores@moffitt.org.
