The Medical Research Council (part of UKRI) are currently launching a new initiative with a mission to unlock the potential of precision genetic medicines and speed up clinical developments. The Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator (NATA) will be an internationally unique resource, drawing on world-leading academic expertise in partnership with innovative businesses to discover and test viable ways of developing, manufacturing and delivering oligonucleotide therapies, and anchoring the oligonucleotide therapy industry in the UK for many years to come. The NATA will bring together key stakeholders around the infrastructure hub while catalysing collaborative R&D activity with focused support to tackle barriers facing oligonucleotide therapies. About the Role
The new Executive Director will be responsible for the overarching leadership and strategic direction of the NATA, building external relationships, managing internal resources and developing capacity. They will bring a passion for NATA’s mission, the ability to grow and lead a multidisciplinary team, and the skills to forge diverse collaborations across industry, charities and academia. The role is a unique opportunity for an outstanding leader to establish the institute as an internationally leading nexus of NA research and deliver improved health outcomes through fundamental scientific and translational innovation.
You should have led the delivery of international quality research in oligonucleotide therapies, and a strong network in the field. You will have a track record of driving innovation in discovery and translational research, and successfully forging collaborations between academia, industry and other stakeholders. You will be experienced in engaging in discussions around knowledge transfer and IP negotiation, maximizing the value of innovation for all stakeholders involved. You will also be someone who can lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary team. Given the breadth of the role, you will be dynamic, adaptable and comfortable managing a wide range of stakeholders (internal and external).
