The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be Grade 8 £44,674 – £52,701 per annum/ Junior Doctor £36,936 – £53,216 per annum/ StR £41,083 – £51,223 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

UCL’s Excellence Fellowship Programme seeks to recruit the highest calibre early career researchers from across the globe, supporting them to establish their independent career and become the outstanding research leaders of the future. Fellowship posts are available across the School of Life and Medical Sciences, which comprises the Faculties of Brain Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Population Health Sciences.

The position for three years in the first instance.

Applications are welcome from clinical and non-clinical researchers in disciplines across the life and biomedical sciences, including clinical, applied and population health science.

Successful candidates will be expected to have (i) a PhD (or equivalent research-related degree), (ii) an excellent publication record, including a portfolio of first author publications (iii) an innovative and visionary research agenda that will advance the strategic objectives of UCL, (iv) demonstrable research creativity and evidence of influence and reputation in their field and (v) clear leadership potential.

In return, SLMS Excellence Fellows will receive three years’ salary costs and support for research costs. During the tenure of the award, Fellows will be supported to obtain a competitive externally-funded fellowship or personal award and successful candidates will therefore be of the highest calibre in order to submit competitive applications.

Applicants should be aware that they will need to secure an academic sponsor from within SLMS and obtain a letter of support as part of their application. The sponsor(s) should be able to assure the selection panel that the Fellow will be welcomed into the host department as an independent researcher.
