Job description:

The Institute of Energy and Climate Research – Systems Research and Technological Development (IEK-STE) is concerned with the development, analysis and evaluation of energy systems, infrastructures and technologies as well as the nexus between energy, water and land use. The focus is on interdisciplinary approaches that investigate essential socio-economic aspects of technological development and their impact on the environment, the economy and sustainability. In addition to scientific purposes, the results are used to advise business and politics.

Your Job:

  • Further development of quantitative methods for recording and evaluating changes in economic and social structures (national and regional level)

  • Design of scenarios with focus on energy system and structural change

  • Development and evaluation of transformation paths that arise in the light of climate change

  • Analysis of rebound effects

  • Presentation of scientific results at national and international conferences

  • Publication of the results in renowned scientific journals

Your Profile:

  • Ideally a very good university degree (master) in the field of economics, industrial engineering or related disciplines, preferably with a PhD
  • Knowledge in the field of innovation/regional economics
  • Knowledge of quantitative methods
  • Ability to acquire third-party funded projects
  • Very good knowledge of English and the ability to speak German
  • Ability and willingness to cooperate in an international, interdisciplinary team
  • High level of flexibility and ability to work under pressure as well as the willingness to show great commitment
