Duties and Responsibilities:

The position is dedicated to the biophysical analysis of ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels, in particular pacemaker channels of the heart and the brain, as well as structurally related channels of olfactory and visual receptor cells. The work will take place in a team. Adequate technical and man power will be provided. The institute is excellently equipped and provides many opportunities for further qualification, covering the fields of electrophysiology, molecular biology, biophotonics and mathematical modeling.

The position is embedded in the framework of the Research Unit 2518 ‘DynIon’ of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Spokesperson K. Benndorf). This collaborative structure brings together leading scientists of Germany in the fields of functional measurements on ion channels and transporters and molecular dynamic (MD) simulations.

Applicants must have a M. Sc. degree in a naturalscientific field (e. g. biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, chemistry, physics) and should have sincere enthusiasm for basic scientific research in a competitive field. Participation in teaching of students in practical courses is expected.
