The Junior Research Group “Biogenic Nanotherapeutics” (BION) is engineering smart drug carriers for bacterial infections utilising principles established in nature. We offer cutting-edge methodologies in nanoparticle formulation combined with tangible pharmaceutical expertise in the field of targeted drug delivery (www.fuhrmann-lab.de).
 
We are looking for a highly motivated 
 
Doctoral researcher (f/m/d) 
 
to join our group to work on an innovative project in the field of controlled delivery for antibiotic drugs. 
 
What we offer 
      We offer an attractive and challenging position in the field of pharmaceutical research and drug delivery. Our interdisciplinary group and institute will allow cooperation with Pharmacists, Chemists and Physicists in a modern research environment. Employment will be at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, while the place of work will be in Saarbrücken at the HIPS.


      The successful candidate will work in a team on a project on isolation and characterisation of cell-derived extracellular vesicles and their formulation to treat bacterial infection. The project will also involve the in vivo evaluation of nanocarriers. A high degree of self-organisation is required to complete work packages in a timely manner.


Prerequisite:

What we are looking for  
       We seek a talented and motivated candidate with above-average undergraduate training (master degree or state exam) in pharmacy, biology, chemistry or materials sciences. Previous experience with developing nanoparticle-based formulations, different techniques of microscopy or experimental animal work is an advantage but not required.  


      Fluency both in written and oral English communication is essential, additional knowledge of German is an advantage. Good literacy of MS Office (Power Point, Excel, Word) and/or common research software (e.g., Endnote, Origin) is desired. Knowledge in biostatistics are considered advantageous. Independent work habits, proactive attitude towards new projects and scientific curiosity are an essential requirement for this position.

Starting date: 1 April 2020 or as soon as possible. The contract is limited to one year with a possible extension by two years upon positive evaluation.


Salary: following TVöD E13 (50%) with the possibility of an additional payment of 5%
