ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA).  The Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan is recruiting for a Director of Breast Pathology.


Breast pathology at Michigan is a subspecialty service dedicated to providing superior and cutting-edge care for our patients. Our active breast service includes several faculty, weekly multidisciplinary conference, thriving consultation practice, breast pathology fellowship, and world-class research. Applicants must be a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy, and certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Preference will be given to applicants who are recognized as an expert breast pathologist. A track record of peer reviewed publications, clinical excellence and commitment to education are desirable.


The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan) has over 220 faculty members with extramural research support totaling nearly $30 million dollars.  The department has ranked in the top 10 in NIH funding nationally over the past 10 years. State-of-the-art research laboratories, a large community of investigators committed to team science, and a diverse, world-class medical center contribute to a nurturing and supportive environment for research endeavors.  The department has recently moved into a state-of-the-art novel facility designed to foster collaboration and innovation. Our world-class health care system, Michigan Medicine, houses a comprehensive Cancer Center, providing a rich source of oncological materials for diagnosis and research.  State of the art genomic sequencing facilities within the department support precision medicine. Ample opportunities to engage in original research and collaborate with clinical colleagues are available. The department maintains a Molecular Pathology Research Laboratory and provides research funding for projects through our Anatomic Pathology Funding Committee to support and facilitate faculty development.  The department has a breast pathology fellowship, a large residency program, subspecialty ACGME fellowships, and non-ACGME Clinical Trainees, which provide excellent teaching opportunities for its clinical faculty, as well as opportunities for medical student teaching.


Appointment will be at the level of Associate or Full Professor (Clinical Track), commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience, accomplishments, and track record of academic achievement.  Excellent diagnostic and communication skills, and a commitment to Service Excellence are required.
