Director for The Brain Prize, Lundbeck Foundation
The Lundbeck Foundation is one of Denmark’s leading commercial foundations and an active grant-giver to international healthcare research, focusing in particular on the brain. It is the founder of The Brain Prize, the worlds’ largest brain prize, which has been awarded every year since 2011 to one or more researchers for outstanding scientific contributions to brain research.
The Lundbeck Foundation is looking to recruit a new Director for The Brain Prize who will be responsible for all scientific activities related to the prize, including nominations and support for the international Selection Committee that heads the scientific evaluation. The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and involves global travel to lectures, workshops and meetings and to facilitate connections with international researchers and partner organisations.
The ideal candidate is a scientific leader with a passion for science and the brain and with the energy and analytical skills to oversee a multitude of activities and challenges related to The Brain Prize. Candidates are expected to have:
- A scientific PhD or similar and experience of scientific work within the healthcare sector. Research experience related to the brain and neuroscience is not considered a requirement but a strong interest in brain, neuroscience and basic research is essential.
- Excellent abilities to collaborate internally and externally and to build relationships with scientific profiles and communities internationally.
- A strong mix of analytical skills, empathy and curiosity and a passion for science and people as well as strong planning skills and ability to oversee and lead projects.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
