The Institute Competence Centre Photovoltaics Berlin (PVcomB) is looking for

Design and Development Engineer (f/m/d)


  • Contribution to various Research and Development projects in the field of solar water splitting;

  • Development of concepts for and computer aided design (CAD) of integrated photovoltaic-electrolysis prototypes

  • Assembly and testing of integrated photovoltaic-electrolysis prototypes on a laboratory and demonstrator scale

  • Structured documentation of research work, CAD files and test results in digital form

  • Coordinating external construction jobs with the HZB workshop and with external service providers as well as the procurement of components


  • At least successfully completed Bachelor/ Dipl.-Ing FH degree in (chemical-, processing-, electrical power-, materials-) engineering, chemistry, physics or equivalent qualification
  • Prior practical experience with prototyping or assembling electrolysers, fuel cells, and/or chemical flow reactors through employment, internship and/or final year thesis
  • Hands-on experience in the use of Computer Aided Design software (Solid Works and/or PTC Creo would be preferable)
  • Fluent in both written and spoken German and English
  • Application accompanied by copies of documents, such as reference letters and/or abstracts of a thesis or publication(s), that show the relevance of the candidate’s work experience to the position
