Overview

The laboratory of Dr. Shengdar Q. Tsai is seeking outstanding, highly motivated, and creative candidates for a Research Technologist, starting in June 2021, to define and improve genome editing strategies for treatment of sickle cell disease and cancer immunotherapy.

You will have the opportunity to learn about and support new exciting projects such as:

  • Engineering of novel CRISPR-Cas genome editors
  • Creating new high-throughput assays in vitro and in cells to measure the genome-wide specificities and activities of genome editors
  • Using computational tools to identify next-generation genome editors and to define the editing capacity of genome editors  
  • Developing and testing new methods to understand the global biological effects of genome editing
  • Optimizing pre-clinical CRISPR-Cas gene editing strategies for sickle adult hemoglobin.

In this position, you will gain extensive experience and training in gene editing, epigenomics, protein engineering, and high-throughput genome biology.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required. Will also consider current students with an anticipated graduation date within 3 months of application. Verification of degree is required prior to start date.

Minimum Experience

Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills. 

  • Preferred prior experience in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, hematology, computational biology.
  • We also encourage applications from those with long-term interests in pursuing a graduate degree.
