Development of new or available algorithms (evaluation and benchmarking) for root recognition and classification from digital images Application and parameterization of suitable frameworks or algorithms for image processing with a focus on machine learning and deep learning Increase the throughput of image analysis of root images Optional: Development of workflows for image processing and data extraction for daily operation and linking workflows with existing in-house developed databases
Completed studies (Bachelor) in computer science or comparable discipline Extensive experiences with the application of deep learning methods (supervised learning, convolutional neural networks, semantic image segmentation) and relevant basics in deep learning frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch) Experience with digital image analysis and feature acquisition from monochrome and RGB images Proven experience with programming languages and software (C++, Phyton, Matlab etc.) Ideally, practical experience with optical measuring stations (e.g. also from the biomedical field) and their components such as camera types and lighting conditions A high degree of initiative, responsibility and team spirit You are fluent in German and have a good command of the English language
